Calcium sulphate vs woodcore: technical competition and market division of anti-static raised floor
Currently, the mainstream products on the market are divided into two major camps according to the different base materials: anti-static calcium sulphate raised floor and anti-static Woodcore Raised Floor.
The technical differences behind the materials
The essential difference between the two types of flooring begins with the composition of the base material. The core material of the calcium sulphate floor is a composite of α-type high-strength gypsum powder, fast-growing poplar fiber and retarder, which is cured into a high-density crystal structure through a high-voltage pulse process. The base material purity exceeds 85%, the density is precisely controlled at 1.60±3%, and the weight of a single piece is about 17-23 kg.
This inorganic-plant fiber composite system gives it unique stability: the six-sided galvanized steel plate structure further enhances the sealing, and the surface is covered with HPL or PVC anti-static veneer.
The anti-static Woodcore Raised Floor adopts the traditional wood material route: particle board is used as the base material (made of pressed wood fragments), and it is also covered with galvanized steel plates on the top and bottom and pasted with anti-static veneer.
comprehensive comparison of key indicators
Calcium sulphate flooring meets the national Class A non-combustible material standard (GB8624-97A), with a smoldering time of less than 10 seconds (FV-0 level) and a flame spread rate of zero. However, wood core flooring contains organic matter and is easy to burn when exposed to fire.
The concentrated load of calcium acid floor is as high as 5563N and the uniform load is 33000N/㎡, which can withstand the repeated rolling of heavy cabinets and equipment transporters. The load-bearing capacity of wood core floor is generally 30%-50% lower, and long-term heavy pressure can easily lead to deformation or even collapse.
The water absorption rate of the calcium sulphate substrate is less than 0.5%, and it is encapsulated with galvanized steel plates on six sides, which is suitable for high humidity areas.
The water absorption rate of the wood core substrate is very high, and it expands and deforms after being damp, causing the floor to warp and the veneer to crack.
Application scenarios, selection logic for different markets
Calcium sulphate flooring has become the default choice for high-end places due to its excellent stability and safety: such as national data centers, telecommunications core rooms, command centers, etc.

wood core flooring has a price advantage (about 60% of calcium sulphate flooring) and is used in specific areas: such as weak current rooms in small and medium-sized enterprise office areas, training rooms that do not have strict requirements for fire protection/load bearing, etc.
